Brumos Racing Set for a Showdown at Montreal’s Circuit Gilles Villeneuve

In what has been one of the most competitive GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series seasons in memory, the GT championship race is still far from decided, and with only two more races remaining, Brumos is ready for a fight to the finish. Following last weekend’s race at Watkins Glen, the Brumos team immediately went to work, getting the #59 Brumos Porsche 911 GT3 prepped for its trip north of the border to Montreal’s Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Now, going into Round 11, Brumos is in 2nd place in the standings and only seven points out of first, so a strong finish at Montreal is mandatory to keep the historic #59 Brumos Porsche in the running for the lead.

For Brumos driver Andrew Davis, Montreal is the scene of several major accomplishments and a place he is happy to revisit. “I am always excited to get back to Montreal for many reasons,” Davis said. “In the last three seasons, I have had two wins and a third place finish, so that podium is a place that is very familiar to me. Then, the fans in Montreal are some of the best in the world. They are very knowledgeable, and always so excited about sports car racing. Regardless of the weather, the stands are packed from the first practice through the end of the race, so it’s always a pleasure to compete in front of such an enthusiastic crowd. The Rolex Series teams all enjoy visiting Montreal, and for me, to be able to return there in a Porsche this year is going to be really exciting. I haven’t been able to drive a Porsche 911 around that circuit since 2007, and what could be more special than to drive the Brumos #59 Porsche? I am really looking forward to this race and I believe Leh and I will be able to put on a great show for all of the Brumos fans in Montreal.”

While Leh Keen may not have seen quite the level of success at Montreal his co-driver has achieved, he still has made his mark, earning a pole position there in 2009. Keen joins Davis in being excited about the Rolex Series’ 2011 return, saying, “Montreal is one of my favorite races of the whole season. We travel all over the US throughout the year and then we get this one race in Canada, so I really look forward to that. Montreal is a great place and there is an incredible racing vibe throughout the entire city. Obviously, I don’t have as many good results here as Andrew does, but I’m looking forward to getting some good Montreal luck from him, so that together, we can put the Brumos #59 on the podium this year. We now have only two races to go and Brumos is in 2nd with a small gap to the lead and a small gap from third, so it will be an all-out brawl in the GT class. I am really looking forward to being in the front of that fight and Andrew and I are ready to do our part to reclaim the lead for Brumos as we head toward the season finale.”

The Montreal 200 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve will be held on Saturday, August 20th, with a start time of 11:15 AM ET. The 2.0 hour race will be broadcast by SPEED TV via tape delay on August 20th at 7:00 PM ET.
