Bergmeister Puts Lizard Porsche on Second Row of Mosport GT Grid; Black Swan Takes GTC Pole

Motorsport News

Joerg Bergmeister (Germany), driving the #45 Flying Lizard Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 RSR he will share with fellow Porsche factory driver Patrick Long (USA), qualified third in the tough GT field for tomorrow’s Grand Prix of Mosport.

Bergmeister, who will start behind the two factory BMWs, and ahead of two Ferraris, was pleased with the way his Porsche handled and performed during practice and qualifying today.

“By the time we got to the qualifying session, the No. 45 was really good; on my second lap, which would have been the quickest, I was held up by one of the Ferraris.  I was able to keep improving over the four laps, but that was all that we had today. We need to finish as high as we can to continue our points comeback, so, hopefully we’ll be able to keep out of trouble and combined with good pit stops, we’ll see where we end up,” said Bergmeister, who finished second with Long two weeks ago at Lime Rock.

The Wolf Henzler (Germany)/Bryan Sellers (USA) Team Falken Tire Porsche 911 GT3 RSR qualified seventh in GT, while the Bryce Miller/Sascha Maassen Paul Miller Racing Porsche is 11th, and the Seth Neiman/Marco Holzer Flying Lizard Porsche is 14th in class.

In GT Challenge, after a near miss at the last race at Lime Rock, the defending GTC champions Black Swan Racing are back on top of the field, with Damien Faulkner (Ireland) putting their Porsche 911 GT3 Cup on the pole in the ride he will share with team owner Tim Pappas.

The Grand Prix of Mosport will start Sunday at 3:05 PM EDT, and will last two hours and 45 minutes. The event will be available live on www.espn3.com in the U.S. or www.americanlemans.com in Canada. There will be a delayed TV broadcast on ESPN2 on Sunday at 10:00 PM EDT.
