Information about a new smaller SUV in the Porsche Lineup has surfaced on the web. According to Autoweek Magazine, “Cajun” might be the name of the German carmaker’s small SUV, or baby Cayenne as people have speculated for some time now. The Porsche Cajun will be a compact SUV / crossover that will sit lower on the market than the current Cayenne, which also means less expensive. The Porsche Cajun could be expected to hit the market in around 4 year’s time as a 2014 or 2015 model.
The new info regarding the Porsche Cajun says it might share most of the parts with the Audi Q5. This gives an idea about the size and performance of the Cajun. Porsche’s version of the Q5 will most likely offer more performance and refinement. Volkswagen is taking over Porsche Automobil Holding SE’s carmaking operations as the companies build on a partnership that includes sharing vehicle platforms. Currently the Cayenne shares a platform with the VW Touareg and Audi Q7 – so it makes sense that a new smaller SUV in the Porsche lineup would follow this same strategy.
