Michael Steiner takes over Total Vehicle Development from Rolf Frech
Gernot Döllner to be future Head of Panamera model line
Dr. Michael Steiner (47) will be taking over the Total Vehicle Department in the Development Division of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, on November 1. In this position he will be reporting to Board of Management Member for Research and Development, Wolfgang Hatz and takes over from Rolf Frech (54) who is moving to Bentley Motors where at the same time he will be taking over the Board of Management Development Division. Steiner began as Head of Innovation and Concepts at Porsche in 2002 before taking over responsibility for the Panamera model line in 2005. He is largely responsible for the success of the fourth model line.
Wolfgang Hatz, Member of the Board of Management for Research and Development of Porsche AG said: “Rolf Frech spent 28 years at Porsche and in his last position as Head of Total Vehicle Development laid the foundation for the company’s quest for growth. We thank him for his many years of service and his commitment.” Hatz made his satisfaction with the choice of successor plain: “In the person of Michael Steiner, we have been able to fill the position of Head of Total Vehicle Development with a proven in-house product expert who has Porsche in his DNA.”
Dr. Michael Steiner will be succeeded as Head of the Panamera model line on November 1 by Dr. Gernot Döllner (42). Döllner has worked at Porsche since 1998 and was Head of the Vehicle Concepts and Package Department for all Porsche models before becoming Head of Product Strategy at the beginning of this year. Dr. Stefan Weckbach (35) was appointed as his successor and therefore as new Head of Product Strategy. Weckbach has worked at Porsche since 2008 where his last position was as Head of the Board of Management office of Porsche AG. In their new positions Döllner and Weckbach will report to the CEO of Porsche AG, Matthias Müller
